Rufus is a 1-year-old bully mix weighing in at about 70 pounds of pure love, personality, and a little bit of chaos. This sweet boy is looking for a home that understands his big heart and even bigger zest for life.
Rufus is what you’d call a certified attention-lover, if it’s been more than 10 minutes since he’s seen you, expect an enthusiastic reunion complete with kisses (and maybe a dramatic little “scream” to let you know he missed you!). He absolutely adores affection and will happily spend his evenings cuddled up watching TV with you.
He’s incredibly intuitive and has a special way of reading people, if you’re not feeling your best, Rufus seems to know and will tone things down to match your energy. It’s a pretty amazing quality in such a young pup.
The good stuff:

Crate trained (still building longer tolerance)
Great in the car (loves a good window view)
Friendly with other dogs (would thrive with a playful companion!)
Walks well on leash and responds to redirection
Rarely barks (unless he’s expressing his feelings about missing you!)
Loves: bones, peanut butter, tug-of-war, treats of any kind, and lounging in front of the TV like a little couch potato.
His ideal home:
Rufus has medium-high energy and needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation throughout the day. A home where someone is around often would be perfect to help keep him engaged and out of trouble.
Rufus doesn’t quite realize how big and strong he is, he may be a bit too much for small children or tiny dogs. He plays with enthusiasm and sometimes leads with his whole body! A confident dog sibling his size or larger would be a great match. He has not been cat tested.
Rufus can be a little sensitive to sudden movement, like someone running up behind him and may try to chase bikes or small animals on walks. He’ll thrive with a patient, consistent handler who can continue building his confidence and guide him through these moments.
Rufus is a goofy, loving, deeply loyal dog who just wants to be close to his people and live life to the fullest. With the right home, structure, and lots of love, he’s going to make an incredible companion.
