Meet Oakley — A Loving, Loyal Cuddle-Bug Looking for a Calm, Understanding Home

Oakley (nicknamed Amigo) is a 1-year-old, 20 lb Lab/Potcake mix with a heart of gold and a deep love for his people. Around his family, he is endlessly affectionate—he’d happily spend all day curled up in a lap, soaking up hugs and cuddles. In fact, he’s so bonded to his humans that he’ll sometimes grab a family member’s shoe or slipper and bring it to his bed to snuggle with until they return. 💙

While Oakley is incredibly sweet with those he knows, he struggles with unfamiliar people, especially men, when they enter his home. He’ll need a patient, experienced adopter who can help him continue building confidence through slow, positive introductions.

Oakley is a moderate-energy dog who enjoys a mix of outdoor adventures and cozy downtime. He loves warm-weather walks, sniffing around outside, and exploring at a relaxed pace. Indoors, he’s easygoing and content to settle in beside his people. Because he’s sensitive to loud noises and fast movements, Oakley would do best in a quiet home with older children (8+).

He currently lives with cats and typically leaves them alone, though he may give chase if he’s feeling playful. He has only briefly encountered other dogs on walks; while generally indifferent, he has occasionally barked when unsure. With very slow introductions, he may be able to coexist with another calm, respectful pet.

Oakley is crate trained and will even put himself to bed for a nap. He walks nicely on leash, though he can be reactive to squirrels and isn’t fond of cold weather, once he’s finished his business, he’s quick to head back to the warmth of home! He loves chewing on his Benebone, snuggling up with his people, and enjoys treats like cucumbers and peanut butter. Oakley is smart, treat-motivated, and a quick learner, making him a great candidate for continued training—especially to help with his stranger reactivity.

At his core, Oakley is a gentle, devoted companion who just wants to feel safe and loved. With the right environment, patience, and guidance, he’ll blossom into the ultimate loyal sidekick.
