CHAPIN
APPROXIMATE AGE: 1.5 YEARS
CURRENT STATUS: Foster secured - Decompressing - Will be available soon
⚠️Chapin has medical issues with his legs that need care before adoption. He is looking for a local foster in the Kitchener Waterloo area with minimal stairs to reduce discomfort.
Chapin is an adorable 1.5-year-old, 40 lb mixed-breed boy, possibly a bully/basset hound mix based on his short legs and turned-out front paws. A sensitive, emotional soul from Mexico, he is still adjusting to colder weather and a brand-new world. He learns slowly, especially with stairs, and prefers being warm, cozy, and wrapped in blankets. He has moderate energy; playful at times but equally happy napping on the couch.
Generally a happy dog, Chapin can be nervous with new things and needs time, space, and slow introductions to feel safe. He’s becoming more comfortable with people but may bark or growl if overwhelmed, particularly at night. Calm, patient humans and a quiet, respectful environment suit him best. Chapin walks beautifully on leash at a slower pace and enjoys relaxed sniffy walks. He’s responsive and eager to please, though still learning basic cues.
Chapin is crate-trained and comfortable while his humans are at work, though check-ins are ideal. He loves car rides and has limited experience with other dogs; introductions must be slow and carefully managed. While not very interested in toys yet, he absolutely loves treats.
