⏳️ RUNNING OUT OF TIME
Ozzy was found abandoned in a field and later ended up at ACS, where he was set to be euthanized. We saved him with our rescue partner. His history is unknown, and his adoption fee will be waived to help ensure he receives the training and support he needs.
Ozzy is a 4-year-old, 55 lb Chow Chow × Staffy mix with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He’s a goofy, happy boy who absolutely loves his people. He’s a true velcro dog who loves following his humans, cuddling on the couch, and snuggling in bed.
He’s playful, energetic, highly food motivated, and loves stuffies and tug-of-war. He knows his basic commands, walks well on leash, enjoys walks and relaxing in the yard, and can be left loose and uncrated in the home. He settles nicely once his initial excitement wears off.
Ozzy needs:
• An experienced handler.
• To be the ONLY dog in the home.
• Structure, clear boundaries, consistency, and continued training.
• Plenty of exercise, enrichment, and socialization.
• Reward-based training and someone willing to understand his communication style.
Ozzy has been friendly with children, but his size and enthusiastic play can be a lot for smaller kids. An adults-only home would likely be best. He loves meetint new people and is not a fearful dog.
While we’ve seen Ozzy coexist successfully with other dogs, his family has not, and he has not been friendly with other dogs in their care. He can also be reactive on walks.
Ozzy recently bit his owner when they grabbed his collar to put his leash on. Because he can become defensive when corrected, physical corrections should be avoided. His future handler must be committed to positive reinforcement and thoughtful management.
Ozzy is smart, affectionate, goofy, loyal, and wants to be with his people. He needs the right home and someone willing to give him the structure and guidance he needs, but for the right person, he could be an incredibly rewarding companion.
