NALA - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Nala is a sweet, gentle mama with a huge heart and an even bigger love for her people. Thought to be around 4 years old, this mastiff mix (possibly with some boxer or lab) came into care at about 90 lbs after raising her litter and has since lost some of her mama weight. Nala lived in a basement, and has been overbred - the poor girl is DONE having babies. Nala is happiest when she’s close to you - she prefers a soft and cozy space, and while she enjoys affection and snuggles, she’s also perfectly content just being nearby. She is low energy overall, with the exception of a couple minutes of pure joy when you come home, and enjoys calm daily walks where she truly shines, showing off her excellent leash manners once the initial excitement passes.

At home, she is not a flight risk, settles well, doesn’t get into trouble, and is happiest with routine and reassurance. Her previous owners used to walk Nala off leash. She is such a loyal girl and very loving. Nala is learning her manners beautifully, now sitting and waiting for meals, improving her patience at doors, and responding well to encouragement and gentle guidance. She enjoys Kongs stuffed with treats, beef and liver snacks, pumpkin, mango, and popcorn. Nala prefers open spaces (no crates or tight rooms), may show mild anxiety when left at first but settles well with time, and benefits from having water and a cozy resting spot available. She has done well with calm, on-leash dog introductions but needs slow, proper introductions and may do best as an only dog or with a lower-energy companion; cats are not recommended. Nala used to live with toddlers and small children, but older kids may be best due to her enthusiastic tail.

Medically, she has been treated for dermatitis and she is finishing treatment for an ear infection, and has a spay appointment scheduled, with no other known concerns. Nala would thrive in a loving home where someone is around often, offering patience, consistency, and affection- she doesn’t need much space, just a steady routine, daily walks, and people to love, and she will reward them with quiet devotion and companionship.
