Hi, I’m Laila! I’m a 1-year-old Shepherd mix, weighing about 35 pounds, and I’m the absolute sweetest soul you’ll ever meet. I love the simple joys in life- long naps wrapped in cozy blankets, playing in the backyard, chasing balls, and curling up by the fireplace for cuddles. I’m playful but also really enjoy my downtime, making me a great mix of fun and calm. I can be a little timid with new things and loud noises - they scare me—so I do best with gentle movements and a calm environment. I’m cautious with new people at first, but if you go slow with me, I open up quickly and become the most loving, affectionate girl.
I do well being alone, I usually just sleep and while I’m not a huge fan of the crate at first, I settle after a few minutes and do just fine. I ride well in the car and enjoy going for walks, though I get very excited at the start and love to sniff everything (we’re working on my zig-zag walking!). Windy days can make me nervous, especially when it’s loud, and I might hurry back home. I’ve been fine passing other dogs on walks and am generally shy. I’m cautious around bigger dogs but do okay, though I think I’d be happiest as the only dog or with a calm, respectful larger dog. I haven’t been around cats, and I haven’t lived with children yet, so a home with older kids or a single-person household would likely be the best fit for me.
At home, I’m pretty easygoing, consistency and basic training is all I really need. I might bark at dogs walking past the house, but nothing excessive. Mostly, I’m just a gentle, funny, affectionate girl who wants to feel safe and loved. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will fill your home with warmth, cuddles, and quiet joy, I might just be your girl.
Laila also comes with 30 days of free pet insurance and Free Tractive GPS Tracker. We highly encourage all fosters & adopters to claim their Free Tractive Device and always know where your pup is and how they’re doing with real-time GPS, and escape alerts if your pup leaves a safe zone.
