APPROXIMATE AGE: 1 year

CURRENT STATUS: Available for Adoption

Hi, I’m Gringo, a 1-year-old Shepherd mix weighing about 50 lbs with a moderate energy level — I love playtime but also really enjoy downtime. I’m a total cuddle bug who adores snuggling on the couch and staying close to my people, and if I want attention, I’ll gently paw to let you know because I love being someone’s shadow. While I can be a bit of a couch potato, I also get excited during playtime, especially when I’m with my canine friends.  I get along very well with other dogs and would do extremely well with another dog in the home. I’m playful, friendly, and enjoy dogs of similar size and smaller. I’m okay with both male and female dogs, whether they’re low or high energy. I’m not quite sure how I feel about very large dogs yet. For enrichment, I love stuffies, lick mats, snuffle mats, and treats -  those are some of my favourite things! I also seem to do well in the car and enjoy getting out for walks, though I do pull a little on leash (we’re working on that).

I’m happiest in a home where someone is around more often than not. I’m not a big fan of being left alone in my crate during the day — I can get a bit restless if no one is home — but at night, I sleep peacefully. Loud noises and sudden movements aren’t really my thing, so I think I’d be best suited for a home with older children. I just need a little more time with the boys. Sometimes I bark when men enter the room (like my foster’s spouse or brother), but once I realize everything is okay, I settle quickly. I also tend to jump when I’m excited, especially when I’m happy to see my people or meet someone new. I’m improving with guidance and consistency. Overall, I’m a sweet, affectionate boy with a gentle demeanor, and I would make a wonderful addition to many different families - especially one looking for a loyal, loving companion who enjoys both playtime and cuddles.

Gringo comes with 30 days of free pet insurance and Free Tractive GPS Tracker. We highly encourage all fosters & adopters to claim their Free Tractive Device and always know where your pup is and how they’re doing with real-time GPS, and escape alerts if your pup leaves a safe zone.
