Jax is a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd x Collie, about 60 lbs, who loves his people, water, and a really good toy. He has spent his whole life with one family, but with three young children including a new baby, he needs more attention and movement than they can currently provide.

Jax is playful, food-motivated, and happiest when something interesting is happening around him. Splashing in a pool, lake, or sprinkler is his perfect afternoon. He adores toys, loves food (his and ideally yours), and enjoys being active.

Jax is also an anxious dog. He can bark at unfamiliar men, thunder is his least favourite thing, and he pulls at the start of walks before settling. He is highly protective of his person and will need gentle, consistent training. Once comfortable, he is lovely with most people and genuinely good with older kids. Small children are not ideal due to his size, clumsiness, and tendency to herd when kids yell or run.

He currently lives with a female dog and does well overall, but food and toys are flashpoints. Dogs must be fed separately and toys managed carefully. A multi-dog home is possible with proper management. He has not been to dog parks and is not yet neutered.

Jax would do best in an active home with no small children (kids 8+ recommended), daily walks, runs, fetch, swims, and mental stimulation. Ideally he would be the only dog, or in a home prepared to manage feeding and toys separately. Water nearby is a bonus because he LOVES it. He used to be crate trained and did very well with it. He eats Costco healthy-weight kibble.

He currently has a managed hot spot on one leg. Neutering is included in his adoption fee.

Jax is a great dog with a lot of love to give. We want to find him the life and home he deserves.
