š¾ Meet Buster ā A Resilient, Loving Husky/Shar-Pei Mix Ready for a Fresh Start
Buster is a 1.5-year-old, 65-lb Husky/Shar Pei mix with a heart full of love and a spirit thatās truly remarkable. His life hasnāt been easy, but this sweet boy has held onto his gentle, playful nature through it allāand heās now ready to find the safe, active, committed home heās always deserved.
⨠His Story
Buster was originally rescued from an abusive situation at just 7 months old. He was placed into a home that, despite good intentions, couldnāt meet his needs for exercise, training, or companionship. He spent long days tied on a heavy outdoor chain with very little stimulation or social interaction. A dog trainer in the community stepped in to advocate for him, helping with walks, enrichment, and basic trainingāand quickly saw how wonderful a dog he truly is. For Busterās wellbeing and safety, his guardian decided a rehome was the kindest path forward.
Despite his past, Buster remains friendly, social, and deeply eager to bond with people.
š Personality
Buster is a bright, curious, high-energy dog whoās ready for a life filled with adventure. Heās playful, affectionate, extremely treat-motivated, and loves being included in whatever his people are doing. Indoors, once his energy needs are met, he settles willingly and relaxes well.
He can be a little shy with some men and may growl out of fear in unfamiliar situations, but he warms up beautifully with patience, structure, and positive interaction. He is non-destructive, rarely barks, and loves to stay close to his people on adventures.
ā¤ļø Loves:
Kids ā heās gentle, appropriate, and protective in a healthy way
Other dogs ā excellent at taking cues, loves chase and wrestling play
Water, hiking, exploring
Treats of ANY kind
Car rides
Learning and training
ā ļø Things to Know:
High prey drive ā not suitable for a home with small animals
Needs an active home that can provide consistent exercise and enrichment
Would thrive with another playful, confident dog but would also do well solo with enough stimulation
Has shown fear-based growling in his current stressful environment, but has never bitten and did not show this behavior before being chained outdoors
Strong, energetic, and still learning leash manners
Very good recall developing with proper practice
š” Ideal Home
Buster is looking for a loving, active home with people who understand energetic working-breed mixes. A fenced yard or plenty of daily outdoor time would be ideal. Heāll flourish with structure, positive reinforcement training, and owners who enjoy hiking, running, exploring, and spending quality time with their dog.
He does beautifully with children and loves the company of other dogs, so a family home or a home with a friendly resident dog would be wonderfulābut the key is engagement, movement, and affection.
š¬ In Short:
Buster is a phenomenal dog who has been let down by humans more than onceābut he has never lost his sweetness. With an active lifestyle, clear guidance, and a family committed to meeting his needs, Buster will become an incredible companion. Heās smart, loyal, playful, and ready to start his new life surrounded by love.
