MOOSE IS NOT CURRENTLY SAFE, AND FACING EUTHANSIA. We are looking for a foster that has bully experience and willing to give him the time he needs to decompress. He has been in the kennels far too long - and showing signs of stress. 

Moose is a beefcake of a short king, and he would very much like you to throw the ball.

Moose came in as a stray, skinny and with skin that told the story of a dog who'd been left outside too long. He's filled out since then and looks like a different dog — solid, healthy, and well fed. He's easygoing and well mannered in his kennel, though he makes his excitement known when it's time to go outside. He walks well on leash, just strong enough to pull a bit. He's easy to handle, easy to work with, and has been friendly with every single person he's met.

In off-leash play group Moose is lovely with other dogs — he'll trot over to say hello and have a sniff, then happily go do his own thing. But what he really wants is fetch. He absolutely loves it, and he brings the ball back to you, which as anyone who's worked in a shelter knows is not a given.

What he needs you to know: Moose has been here over two months with limited yard time, and he'd started barking himself hoarse. He's on a low dose of anxiety medication to take the edge off kennel life — and notably, he's never barked once in his kennel or the yard while working with staff. That's a dog struggling with confinement, not a dog with a behaviour problem. He's also started Benadryl and fish oil for skin allergies, and had his right ear cleaned and packed.

Two months is a long time for a dog this good. Moose is ready to go be somebody's dog.
