Ghost is a 59 lb 5 year old, very sensitive, and soulful boy who is still discovering the world and all the good things in it. For the first five years of his life he lived mostly in a backyard with just a few people, so the shelter environment has been a lot for him to take in - he can appear shy or anxious in his kennel, but step outside with him and you'll see something shift. He softens, he explores, and he leans in for pets. Ghost is slow to warm but deeply sweet, and he is absolutely worth the patience. And when he feels safe? Ghost is an absolute sweetheart.
He loves treats, gentle affection, and more than anything - he would love a cozy blanket to curl up on. He is growing more confident on walks every day, taking in new sights and smells at his own pace. While he takes time to warm up to new people and places, he absolutely gets there — and when he does, he is deeply loyal and loving.
Ghost is best described as slow to warm, but deeply sweet.
He has shown the ability to coexist peacefully with calm, friendly dogs —However, overwhelming or chaotic environments like the dog park are not recommended for him.
Ghost's ideal home:
Quiet household with adults only
Minimal visitors and low foot traffic
Patient family willing to let him set the pace
Another easygoing dog
Ghost tested HW+ in November 2024, completed his full heartworm treatment, and is now heartworm-free! He does have typical pittie skin allergies and is currently managed with Benadryl and fish oil.
Ghost has been through a lot - now he's ready for the one thing he's never really had: a home of his very own.
