Chip is a 20-pound bundle of sweetness who looks like a small red heeler but has a calm, laidback personality that sets him apart from the typical energetic or protective traits of his breed. He’s a timid yet affectionate dog who adores belly rubs and will shower you with love once he feels safe and comfortable in his new surroundings.

Chip is a low-energy, easygoing companion who thrives in a quieter environment. He’s still building confidence and needs time to decompress in a new home, but once he warms up, his affectionate nature shines.

Ideal Home - Chip would do best in a calm, patient home where he can adjust at his own pace. He enjoys walks and outdoor time, but he can get nervous, so a secure yard is a great idea. While Chip has been around older children (13–18) and loves people, quick movements or grabby hands can scare him, so he may not be the best fit for homes with very young kids.

Chip is friendly with other dogs and is gradually learning to play more, though he prefers dogs that respect his signals. He could thrive with a canine companion to boost his confidence but would also do well as the only dog. Chip is also great with cats—he’s curious but respectful and hasn’t shown any interest in chasing them. He absolutely LOVES his crate—it’s his safe haven where he loves to nest in blankets and relax. He’s a perfect gentleman when left alone, choosing to nap in his crate without any barking or destructive behavior. Chip is food-motivated and has lots of potential to learn basic commands once he feels secure. He is a very good boy and totally housebroken, going outside immediately when given the opportunity, though he doesn’t yet ask to go out. Chip rides well in the car, happily snoozing in his crate during the journey.
