Before you begin.
Review our FAQs at the bottom of this page before applying or reaching out to us please! We receive hundreds of questions about our adoption process from potential adopters that are already answered below. As we are a volunteer operated rescue we need to use our limited resources to help as many furry friends find their forever home!

ready to adopt?
Please note that an application is the first step in the process, although you may be a good candidate our Adoptions Team cannot reply to all applications. Only approved applicants will be contacted. Once we’ve reviewed your application and think you would be a good fit a member of our Adoptions Team will reach out via email to set up a virtual interview. Please ensure you check your junk mail for responses.

enjoy your happy tail!
Enjoy your new furry friend and all they have to offer! We understand introducing a new member of the pack to your family can come with logistics. It is crucial to plan ahead and have the knowledge of how to navigate issues as they present themselves. A simple way to understand this process of getting your rescue dog adjusted and comfortable in their new home is called the 3-3-3 rule. This rule will help you understand the decompression process that your new furry friend will go through in the first 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months at a new home.

As you explore adoption, we encourage you to also consider the significant time and financial commitment that comes along with dog ownership. Adoption fees are $750 for all dogs under 6 years old unless otherwise stated.
Our Foster to Adopt Program requires a deposit of half of the adoption fee.
Adoption fees are not negotiable and must be paid in full at the time of adoption. 100% of the adoption fee goes back into our rescue to help save more dogs.
We are proud to offer medical care, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick medication, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, transportation from shelter to foster, food, leashes and other incidentals for all dogs in our care. While some dogs only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary care or behavioural attention. As a non-profit rescue, we rely entirely on adoption fees, donations, and fundraising to enable us to continue rescuing dogs.

Please apply via our adoption or foster to adopt application. If that dog seems like a good match our Adoptions Team will work with their foster to schedule a one-on-one meeting at a pre scheduled time. As many of our fosters can be based in different cities, this may begin with a video meeting.
-
Once your application has been processed by our Adoptions Team and they’ve scheduled you a one-on-one meeting with their current foster parents we will discuss the best place to meet. Perhaps virtually to begin, or maybe a nearby park, the foster families home or a walk through the neighbourhood.
After you spend time with the dog, you will have a chance to ask their current foster family any questions you might have. If you are ready to adopt, the Adoptions Team will review your pup’s medical records, help you fill out necessary paperwork, complete payment and provide you with post adoption support materials.
Please remember most rescue dogs have been through a lot throughout their lives and even more over the last few days or weeks. Adoption meetings can be stressful for dogs, so please trust that although a pet might not display all the qualities you read about in a foster parent's description, this may be due to the environment, and it will likely take time for the dog to acclimate in a new home. A dog who won't even look at you at a first meeting could be attached at the hip after 24 hours in your home, a dog who just wants to run at the meeting might be a couch potato, and a dog who barks in a crate at a meeting could be quiet as a mouse at home.
We are always as honest and transparent as possible about our dog’s behaviours, so please feel free to ask questions!

For all of our pups, we offer a Foster to Adopt option, so that you can get to know the dog a bit better before deciding if it's the right fit. This is a wonderful option for you if you need some extra time, and for our dogs who will have the opportunity to show off their best selves!

We are a foster-based rescue group in South Western Ontario - we don’t have a shelter. Our fosters and volunteers are spread across the province but we’re always here to answer any questions you may have!

We are glad you asked! We have a great guide to making sure you're ready as can be when bringing home a new pup.
